Scampers Weekly Recap - October 2, 2015

Dear --Valued Customer--

We've been getting our fill of gorgeous fresh air and sunshine. We're still looking for a little more sunshine before we settle in for winter, although we've pretty much worn out the "pools" - they're chewed and holey now - but we hope we can still lounge on our petcots outside in the back forty for a few more days.

PupPod is the new fun and training game for your dog that everyone is talking about.

We had the opportunity to try out PupPod at Scampers on Wednesday.

We only had a couple of hours to play with it, but in that time we introduced it to Odie, Whiskey Chocolate, Chunk, Benny G, Chavo, Jax R, and Cooper K.

They had a great time learning and playing - well, how can you NOT have fun discovering the way to generate a bonanza of treats. We'll load up some of the Flip camera video onto our Facebook page so you can enjoy the fun too.

Odie got the hang of the PupPod game right away!

We're looking at more ways we can use PupPod in future to entertain your pooches at Scampers. Watch this space...

psssst... It's going to be so much fun!

PupPod has just over 10 days left on Kickstarter and we've just heard news that it has been selected as a staff pick! Go PupPod! You can find out all the info on their Kickstarter page and secure some incredible early bird prices if you move fast.

They're are also running a competition to win pet prizes, simply Tweet @PupPod a selfie of you and your dog using #PoseWithPup, email it to info@puppod.com or post directly to their Facebook page for a chance to win. Good luck and don't forget you heard about it here first!

Calling for your photo submissions:
October Pooch of the Month - Halloween Theme

We know many of our campers are great fans of Halloween ... or their people are!

There are some brilliant costumes for dogs of all sizes, and we always get such a kick out of seeing our friends all dressed up!

Send us the photos of your pooches in costume, and we'll have a Halloween-themed Pooch of the Month for October.

Every once in a while we come across a dog-oriented joke.

This one's today's:

.

Watch for the updates of our framed Friday Funny in our reception area.

We'll also make sure they're posted on our Facebook page so you can share them with your friends.

We're Number 5!

We're thrilled to have been nominated for the third year in a row to King5 Best of Western Washington in the Best Doggie Daycare category.

Last year, we were very honored to be named to the top 5 of about 120 contestants.

We hope you'll vote for us this year. We'd love to end up in the Top 5 again!

We're a pretty close knit group of pooches - we form strong friendships, and we get to know each other very well. When we new pooches join us, we love to introduce them around and get them started in their Scampering adventures - that's why they call us the "welcome waggin".

Elegant Della Boxer and English Cream Golden pup Lena joined the fun on Tuesday. Della was immediately comfortable with her fellow campers and wranglers alike. Young Lena was in her element, romping and rassling and a good healthy puppy should! We are pretty sure she slept very well Tuesday night!

On Wednesday, the Littles welcomed Lupin the cockapoo and Cali the Wheaton terrier puppy. Both newbies started out a little reserved, so we're delighted to report that two days later, they both came back for more, and in full party mode!

Remy Beagle is our newest camper, joining the Littles this morning. She's just moved up from Texas, where she's done this whole doggy daycare routine before, so it's not surprising how adept she is at the whole camping thing. We're delighted she's enjoying her day, and we hope she enjoys her new home.

Hey, Peeps, don't forget, if you're curious about how we spend our days and you're not quite sure what those report cards really mean, you can watch the adventures in the photos and videos our wranglers are posting on the Scampers Facebook page.

There's also a ScampersDogs channel on YouTube where you'll find all kinds of fun videos, and we update that selection periodically.

Our boarding facility has very been busy this year. Some weekends have found our facility absolutely full to the brim with happy campers!

Remember to get your boarding requests in early to make sure there's room enough for your pooches, especially for the upcoming holidays.

Samson is a frequent Scampers boarder. Here he is greeting the morning staff with his great big grin!

This is Gunde, relaxing during her recent weekend with us. Gunde used to be a regular camper and we've missed her wily sense of humor, so we're glad she still comes to board once in a while.

Sibling Berner-Golden mix pups Nox and Oris found a nice spot for a mid-day nap - boarding is tiring work for these active and mischievous pups.

Chris Sugarbaker of Cut-N-Run, mobile groomer extraordinaire will make his next visit to Scampers on Tuesday, September 29th.

His schedule really does fill up often, and while we'll try to squeeze everyone in, please make sure to get your request in early if your dog needs a spruce-up.

Give us a call to schedule an appointment for your pooch, or ...

Every once in a while we receive a photo from one of our customers showing us what their beloveds are doing after their day at Scampers.

We're always looking for new material but we have some classics to share:

Avery's got a nice comfy spot for her post-Scampers snooze.

(Red is certainly her color, don't you think?)

This is Sophus, who couldn't muster up enough energy to get all the way into his bed.

Poor Maggie was so tired, she took her nap right in the middle of the kitchen floor.

Murphy O has a cushy corner for his post-Scampers recovery. His human reports that it doesn't take long for him to recharge.

We know we have lots of Seahawks fans in our Scampers community. Here's where we'll post your 12th Dog pics. We're looking forward to seeing LOTS of those over the next few months.

This is 12th Dog, Izzy, a true fan: all smiles and cheerful squeals.

Charlotte is showing off her pretty chapeau.

Xi'An is practicing for her runway debut.

Here's Flapjack, showing her enthusiasm for her favorite team.

This category of owner-contributed pics features dogs enjoying their extracurricular fun.
This is where we'll post the pics we've received of your pooches enjoying summer vacations, beach roaming, ball games, and any other such general exploring.

Miss Mimi enjoyed her visit to Mulkiteo, especially the fresh sea breezes.

Shay enjoyed hanging out at Twanoh State Park Beach.Doesn't she look gorgeous in this light?

Finley is awestruck by the majesty of Crater Lake.

We have also received some great shots documenting "The Real Reason" you bring your furkids to Scampers.

Here's Charlie R, wearing his chicken bag. This is how Sally found him when she returned home one day.

We were not at all surprised to learn that Charlie R's littermate, Gunnar McL, is equally talented. This is Gunnar's attempt at helping around the office. We're pretty sure this is why he spends time with us at Scampers.

Pretty Abby G is a very helpful pooch indeed. This lovely picture shows her effort at helping to unpack mysterious things at the office.

Is anyone noticing a trend? Those yellow labs can be so charming, and so helpful!

Canine Nosework Classes at Scampers

Dogs have an incredible sense of smell and an inborn desire to hunt. The sport of K9 Nose Work is designed to develop the natural scenting abilities of your dog by using their passion for hunting and their love of toys, food and exercise.

It's a great class for your dog to have fun, build confidence, and burn lots of mental and physical energy and you get to find out just how good your dog's nose is.

Vicki Francks, owner of Cascade Canines continues offering K9 Nose Work Classes using Scampers facility. If you'd like some information on the next round of classes, give Vicki a call at 206-849-7643. More information is also available as Scampers front desk.

A gentle reminder that Scampers daycare hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday, and our weekend and holiday daycare hours are by appointment only,  9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In the case of an emergency, we are able to make the accommodation for extended stay. Please call us, though, to advise.

It's a very easy process to set up or change recurring appointments for your pooches. Just stop by our front desk or let us know by email if you'd like to set up, change, or confirm recurring appointments for your campers.

Dogs on Leashes, Pretty Please

Our reception area is often very busy, and we host many dogs with many different kinds of personalities. While we love them all, we know that some are inclined to jump up and greet new friends, and others are inclined to try to protect their beloved humans.

To avoid any kind of mishap, please ensure your pooches are securely leashed and in control while in our reception area.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Very best regards,
