Yes, August is well underway, and it looks like we finally have some relaible summer. Your pooches are so happy to be out in the sunshine, lazing under one of our lovely shade tents, or nosing the mister and the unique “flowing fountain” – the other, broken, mister.
Pooch of the Month – August, 2012
Congratulations, Rocco!
High voter turnout for August’s Pooch of the Month contest dictated a re-count! And the winner is … … … Rocco!!
He ran a strong campaign, laid out his platform and never swayed from his message. A savvy campaigner to be sure.
Congratulations to Robert, his human companion for managing Rocco’s campaign so well!
Summer Highs!
We have been experiencing some of our highest attendance numbers ever, unexpected in the summer months, usually impacted by summer vacations.
It becomes that much more important that we have advance notice of your plans to bring your pooches.
For our customers with recurring reservations, be aware that our reservations system has a limitation on the number of weeks it is able to record, so do recheck with us from time to time to be sure your reservations are still on our records.
Scampers Boarding and Weekends
Well, it looks like you are finding our boarding offering useful – a number of our suites are occupied regularly, and reservations are stacking up for future visits!
The weekend daycampers enjoy playing with the boarders, as they’re all good friends already! We set up our weekend daycamp in our back room as we can have our garage door open, and pooches enjoy the free flow indoors and outdoors.
Please remember that weekend visits are full day only, and require advance booking. We open our doors from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. for check-in, and again from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. for check-out, so we don’t interrupt Cathy’s Pawlogic Training sessions.
Heard ‘Round the Water Bowl
We’re excited to be adding new personalities each week. Our frequent campers are doing their best to make them feel welcome.
Here’s the scoop from gossip heard ’round the water bowl:
“Wasn’t it nice to meet Max, the Lowchen. He has a very pleasant outlook on life – I think Ruby enjoyed sharing the petcot with him too.”
“I think he’ll be a great addition to the book club too – he has that well-read, scholarly way about him!”
“Skippy the Bullfrog has a new friend – Have you seen the new and strange lifeform that sometimes peaks out from the depths of our raingarden pond? The humans are calling it Nessie. They says she’s (he’s) a turtle. Most odd!”
Pooch need a spruce-up?
Chris Sugarbaker, Cut-N-Run’s groomer-in-chief, will drive his studio to Scampers on Tuesday, August 21st.
If your poooch needs a spruce-up, be sure to claim a spot with Chris right away – his schedule has filled up completely on more than one occasion.

124th Street – Street Overlay
Coming Soon
We have received a notice that the City of Kirkland will soon be repaving 124th Street from 124th Avenue to Slater Avenue. Joy!
Typical hours of work will be between 7 am and 6 pm, as well as some “night work”.
We hope this will not be too disruptive to your commute, but we’re sure they’ll help you find your way to us.
We’re headed into a lovely weekend – enjoy, rest, recreate, recharge!
Very best regards,
Linda Olsen and Stina Hughes
